Item : Vintage 1960's - KARI CHRISTENSEN of Denmark ALUMINIA'Tenera Faience' BOWL. Artist/Designer : Kari Christensen (see additional information below). Factory/Studio: Aluminia (changed to Royal Copenhagen in 1969).
Additional Information : Kari Margrethe Christensen (born 10 February 1938, died 5 February 1997) was a Norwegian ceramist. She was born in Kristiansand, and educated at the Norwegian School of Crafts and Arts in Oslo 1957-61 with a diploma in ceramics. Kari Christensen is mentioned in the catalog for the exhibition at Galleri F 15 in autumn 1986 as an innovator of Norwegian ceramics. Her art production evolved from practical utility objects to elevated sculptural art objects during her career.
In the period 1962-65, she had a stay in Copenhagen, where she worked at the faience factory Aluminia, and was selected as one of six designers to create a new modern faience series with new colors and glazes. No damage, has appearance of very faint'hairline crack' to underside. However, this faint mark is below the surface and simply appears to be where the glaze has collected in a tiny channel within the clay surface of bowl during firing.
